USA Visa Waiver Program 2025 - List of Eligible CountriesThe USA expands its Visa Waiver Program in 2025 for tourism and business travel.

The United States has expanded its Visa Waiver Program (VWP), allowing citizens from 41 countries to enter the U.S. without a visa for up to 90 days as of April 2025. This move aims to boost tourism and business travel by simplifying the entry process for eligible travelers.

Who Is Eligible?

The VWP includes countries from Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East.
Notable participants are the UK, Australia, France, Germany, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore.
Romania recently joined in March 2025.
Note: India is not part of the VWP; Indian citizens must still apply through the traditional U.S. visa process.

Requirements for VWP Travelers

  • Valid electronic passport with a digital chip and biometric data.
  • Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval at least 72 hours before departure.
  • Travel must be for tourism, business, or transit purposes.
  • Must have a return ticket or proof of onward travel.
  • Must have no history of visa overstays or serious criminal activity.

What Is ESTA?

ESTA is an automated system that determines your eligibility to travel under the VWP.
An approved ESTA:

  • Allows multiple entries into the U.S.
  • Is valid for two years or until your passport expires (whichever comes first).
  • Requires submission of personal information and travel history.

Important Points to Remember

  • ESTA approval is not a guarantee of entry; final admission is determined by U.S. Customs officers at the border.
  • Travelers with visits to countries like Iran or North Korea after certain dates may be ineligible.
  • Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay, unless exceptions apply.
  • If you are not eligible under VWP, you must use the traditional visa application process.
